About
Russ's main role lies with 89.3 FM WMKV and 89.9 FM WLHS in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is currently the weekday morning show host and producer.
During the mornings, Russ runs breaks across the news simulcast from 6-8 AM, and then DJs music from 8-10 AM. He is a Beatles DJ as well, putting together an hour-long Wednesday Beatles show for the station called "Ticket To Ride." The hosting doesn't stop there. Russ also leads Health Scope, an hourlong weekly health discussion show, and Listen Up Lakota, a 30-minute local events show.
On the writing front, Russ is also a contributor for All Bearcats and AllBengals a part of the Sports Illustrated Network. He writes articles and gives analysis on both teams, while filling more of boots-on-the-ground beat writing role for All Bearcats
Russ moved to Cincinnati after being a member of the Cumulus cluster in Toledo, Ohio. He fulfilled weekend producer and on-air fill-in duties for ESPN 106.5 The Ticket and board operator duties for 100.7 The Zone. Russ was heard every weekend on shows like Black and White Sports and The Cheap Seats with Mik Gonzales.
Prior to living in Toledo, Russ attended Ohio University where he received his Bachelor's of Science in Journalism from the Scripps School. The versatility afforded him many opportunities during his time at Ohio University: from videotaping the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championship game in Detroit, Michigan to being a producer/host of the WOUB radio program SportsBeat and the SportsFan on 97 WATH.
On top of seeing Russ in WOUB's Studio A or on the sidelines of Peden Stadium, it'd be hard to miss him when Ohio Basketball was in full swing. Russ served as the station's main Ohio Baseball videographer in 2017, while also writing game recaps and editing the occasional video story.
All of this helped Russ fulfill his role as radio color commentator for the Southern Ohio Copperheads. Russ painted the on-air picture for all 42-plus games of the Copperheads' 2017 season. From interacting with players to interviewing coaches, Russ learned the ins and outs of a true play-by-play team.
